Maine's part
They built it, and they defended it.
Nearly that many Mainers served in World War II, more than in any war before it. Some 2,156 died.
Liberty ships built at the South Portland yards, by the women and men who worked them.
Destroyers and destroyer-minelayers Bath Iron Works completed from 1934 through the end of the war. At its peak, Bath sent the fleet a new one about every 17 days.
They fought fascism and imperial Japan, and they won. Then, through the Cold War, Maine stood watch against Soviet communism at Loring and Brunswick.
What they defended doesn't keep itself. It's kept by people who show up, in Augusta and at city hall, before the vote instead of after.

Organizes citizens to show up: hearings, council meetings, testimony, petitions.
Supports aligned advocacy groups across Maine with grants and shared resources.

Where the line is. Mainers First may also engage in political activity to the extent the law permits a 501(c)(4) organization, but that is not its primary purpose. Contributions are not earmarked for any candidate or election. Mainers First alone decides how its funds are used.
Your privacy. Mainers First does not publish its donor list and is not required to report donor names to the IRS. Two limits: contributions cannot be earmarked for any candidate or election, and contributions made for election purposes can become public under Maine law.
